All aboard the Arriva London bus to celebrate 2017 World Book Day
Local Haringey Rowland Hill pre-school pupils were again treated to a very special way to celebrate World Book Day last Thursday 2nd March, with a shiny red Arriva London double-decker bus and two of Arriva’s bus drivers to read them stories.
The head for Parental Involvement at Rowland Hill Nursery and Children’s Care Centre is always looking for ways to get the pupils engaged in World Book Day, so called again on Arriva London to see if they could help as they had in previous years.
Pupils, parents and teachers from the centre took turns to board the Arriva London bus in White Hart Lane, where Arriva London drivers Grace and Edward read each of the classes the ‘Naughty Bus’ story, and then, accompanied by Arriva’s Customer Services Officer Sharon, lead the children in singing 'The Wheels on the Bus' and 'Big Red Bus'.
Jane, one of the class teachers, said:
"The children thoroughly enjoyed the bus visiting us at the nursery. It gave all the children first-hand experience of being on a bus, whilst the drivers read them 'The Naughty Bus' book story. Many thanks to Arriva London for visiting us. It was really fantastic."
Arriva London’s Sharon commented:
"The children took the event very seriously and all of them came dressed for the part. There were Princesses and Batman and Spiderman and many, many more dressed for the occasion. What a great World Book Day it was, and Grace and Edward were terrific, sharing the reading to the six different classes that came on board during the day, and getting fully into the actions for the 'Wheels on the Bus' singing. It’s a great way to introduce the children to books and the fun of reading."
