Arriva London hold Macmillan Coffee Mornings in their garages
At Arriva London, we are always looking at ways to support charitable giving, both locally and in the wider community. Our staff, as part of the Payroll Giving scheme, have donated over a million pounds to charities over the past five years, so when our garage staff asked if they could support this year's Macmillan Coffee Morning, we were delighted to encourage them to do so.
As Macmillan Cancer Support suggest ...
'Catch up over a cuppa, enjoy some gorgeous treats - and the money you raise at your Coffee Morning will help us make sure no one has to face cancer alone'
... and this is precisely what our ever generous staff have done in our garages right across London.
All of our garages have what we call the 'output' - it's an area where drivers check in for their shifts and an ideal place for them to congregate and catch up, and this is where the Macmillan Coffee Mornings have taken place.
Staff baked cakes, tarts and biscuits of all sizes and tastes, lemon drizzle, Black Forest gateaux, banana cake and many, many more. From Brixton to Clapton, Enfield to Wood Green, all the garages are getting involved. Like our Tottenham garage, who this week raised £1,175 and our Stamford Hill staff who raised over £400. More garages have planned their events for next week.
Sharon, one of our drivers at Enfield who made three different cakes, said:
"I always support cancer charities for personal reasons and that's what my Payroll Giving funding goes to. However, I love baking and when this opportunity came along, I just wanted to contribute. It's such good fun and a really good cause."

Every year, Arriva London’s staff show their incredible generosity by supporting over 160 charities each and every pay day through the company’s Payroll Giving scheme.
The Assistant Engineering Manager’s role is to assist the Engineering Manager with the running of an efficient and effective engineering operation that meets minimum performance standards set by TfL, Arriva London & DVSA.
