Arriva London wins top award at the National Payroll Giving Exellence Awards
At Arriva London, we are committed to spreading the word of Payroll Giving to all of our staff, and with this in mind, for the last three years have developed a promotional campaign to do just that. It is therefore with enormous pride that we can announce, that at the recent National Payroll Giving Exellence awards, we won the award for the Most Innovative Campaign by a Medium size employer, and were Highly Commended in the Best Promotional Partnership and Most Sustained Scheme categories.
The campaign theme ‘It’s easy to give with Payroll Giving, your colleagues do it every day’ which won the award, has been promoted through weekly road shows at each of the company’s seventeen London garages, together with a poster and video campaign, telling givers’ stories and responses from the charities that are the recipients.
All participants in the scheme enter a company quarterly draw which gives four winners each a cheque from Arriva London for £250 for their chosen charity.
All givers are also entered into a ballot, giving them the chance to be one of the participants in Arriva London’s Lord Mayor’s Show entry, which this year featured the Arriva London’s Heritage Fleet open top Routemaster RMC 1464.
This was accompanied by one of our modern Hybrid buses HV 64, which had been painted Platinum, to mark the company winning the Charity Aid Foundation’s Platinum award for Payroll Giving. This is awarded to organisations who have achieved twenty percent or more of their staff giving to charity through a Payroll Giving scheme. Arriva London is the only bus operator to hold these prestigious awards.

This year’s Lord Mayor’s Show, on 11th November, was an amazing cause for celebration, not only to welcome in the new Lord Mayor, but also to celebrate another year of Platinum giving by our wonderfully generous Payroll Givers.
This is a full time position in the Recruitment & Training departments of north and south London. Whilst predominantly based at Watson’s Road, Wood Green, the successful candidate will, on occasions, be required to visit and support the south London team based at Thornton Heath garage.
Route 175 operates with 16 double-deck vehicles from our Barking garage, with a twelve-minute frequency during the day. Route 103 operates from our Grays garage with 14 buses, with an eight-minute daytime frequency.
Preparations are complete for our display entry in this year’s Lord Mayor’s Show on Saturday. The Arriva London theme again this year is to celebrate the enormous contribution our staff make to charities through the Payroll Giving scheme. With over 1,000 staff supporting over 160 charities every week, and over £1,000,000 having been given in the last five years.
The buses, which were recently on display on the South Bank opposite the Houses of Parliament, will be seen throughout London and the City until November 12th, as a mark of respect for the sacrifices made by London’s service men and women, past and present.
