'Beatles Day' gets by with a little help from Arriva


Arriva was right at the heart of a local celebration and fundraising exercise when it helped raise awareness of Beatles Day.

Held on 10 July in Liverpool, the day’s activities included a concert at Liverpool Echo Arena, street entertainment, walking tours, a fun run and art exhibition. Not only did the event help bring the community together, but it also encouraged donations to the Alder Hey Imagine Appeal and the Marina Dalglish Appeal.

Arriva’s role was to provide an open top bus from the Arriva London Heritage Fleet and tour round various Merseyside schools in the three days running up to Beatles Day to raise awareness of the project.

Southport driver Arthur Senior was selected to take the vehicle to the schools, while Beatles tribute bands performed on the top deck.

Skelmersdale operations manager Barry Dobson then drove the vehicle to the city centre on 10 July where it was decked out in banners and used as a backdrop to the main events.

Arriva London begins new route W4 contract with 14 new Enviro 200 single-deck buses

Last summer, we were delighted to be awarded the contract from TfL to operate route W4 running from Oakthorpe Park Estate to Tottenham Ferry Lane estate, operating from Wood Green garage.
