As part of Arriva London’s commitment to safety we actively support the Metropolitan Police with their BusBeat initiative.
Specially selected staff from Arriva London have the opportunity to become BusBeat Special Constables by attending training courses run by the Metropolitan Police Service. Once trained, they provide a high-profile uniformed presence in areas (including bus routes) of joint importance to our customers and the Police.
Our volunteers who are successful are given all the powers of a regular police officer. They deal with crime, disorder and reassurance just as any other police officer would. Tasking and deployment is usually concentrated in areas that are a direct assistance to Arriva and our customers. The infrastructure is already in place to support, brief, task and co-ordinate the deployment of the BusBeat Special Constables.
Arriva Controller, Phil Bunker, who is now a fully trained special constable said “It’s still early days in the initiative, but I hope to be able to spend a good deal of my beat patrolling buses, transport routes and bus garages alongside experienced officers”.

We have a vacancy for a Duty Manager, reporting to the Deputy Operations Manager of Grays and Operations Manager of Barking / Grays Garage. The role includes supervising, controlling and co-coordinating services operating from the garage. The position will also include office-based tasks, including audit work, staff allocation and organising daily run-outs.
Arriva London currently has a vacancy for a Training Specialist, reporting to the Engineering Training Manager. The position will primarily be based at the Arriva London training academy at Edmonton garage, but will involve working at various locations around London and the Home Counties.
Located at Dartford garage, this full-time shift-based role will primarily consist of ferrying bus drivers to various locations using nine-seater minibuses. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this is an essential role within the business and the successful applicants will be an integral part of the operation.
