Apprentice Support & Welfare Administrator

  
  

Location: Edmonton

Reporting to the Engineering Training Manager, the position will be based at the training academy at Edmonton garage, but will involve travelling and working at various locations around London and the Home Counties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform learner reviews with students, mentors and managers in the workplace environment
  • Handling correspondence, calls and enquiries from students, staff and customers and provide administrative assistance to the training team
  • Maintain accurate records, utilising the IMI’s E-Logbook and the academy computer and paper based systems
  • Provide support to students with individual development needs and help facilitate the teaching of literacy and numeracy
  • To be a key member of the Safeguarding Team, completing relevant documentation as directed by key staff and liaising with appropriate agencies to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare and protection of students attending the academy
  • Support students in maintaining their emotional, physical, spiritual, cultural and psychological well being
  • Provide person-centred support, helping students to maximise their potential
  • Ensure the most effective provision for students’ academic, emotional and social development
  • Provide support to students, teachers and mentors to raise standards of achievement
  • Working within Arriva London policies and procedures
  • Provide a link between the academy, students, mentors and the management team
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
  • Support events and meetings in the academy

Key Skills Required:

  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, communication (written and verbal)
  • Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office and web-based systems
  • A good knowledge of Health & Safety and Equality & Diversity
  • Ability to develop an understanding of the objectives, content and intended outcomes of the learning activities
  • Ability to build rapport and communicate effectively at all levels
  • Excellent standard of numeracy & literacy
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work on own initiative and as a team member

Desirable Skills:

  • Coaching or mentoring qualification or experience
  • Experience of candidate screening and assessment
