All aboard for a story
World Book DayChildren from St Marys School, Haringey were given a special treat to celebrate world book day recently, their very own Arriva London double decker bus.
The event was organised by Haringey’s Children and Young People's Service. Its aim is to promote reading and encourage young people to read more for enjoyment and pleasure in school and at home.
Arriva London Driver Training assistant, Sandra Rowe volunteered to read ‘Amazing Grace’ to the group of year 1 pupils.
The Building Reading Communities Project included 16 schools in Haringey and each one took part in a reading event at different venues across the borough.
World Book DayVeena Sharma, Building Reading Communities Consultant said: “I am very grateful to you all for the time you spent in planning with me, organising your space, preparing your story and putting in additional staff to cover the event. It was a very adventurous project and with your help, you made it possible.”
