Craft Specialist Apprenticeship
There are three types of craft specialist role that we offer under our Apprenticeship scheme. These are Mechanical, Vehicle Electrician and Body Shop Technician.
We normally recruit suitable candidates direct from full time education with a minimum of Grade C GCSE or better in Maths, English and Science. The Apprenticeship is for four years. During the first three years there is 12-14 weeks of residential college courses each year. The residential college course varies, and is normally in small blocks of one to four weeks at a time during each academic year. The college course is Monday to Friday with travel and accommodation provided. The rest of the time is spent at an Arriva London garage under the guidance and supervision of a fully qualified engineer, (Mentor).
The Apprenticeship leads to a fully skilled qualification to a level 3 Technical Certificate and level 3 NVQ.
During the forth year of the Apprenticeship there is a further 18 week in house Bus Mechanics course.
Apprentices are also expected to pass a full PCV driver training course.
We will also recruit a candidate for a Craft Specialist position, who has already gained the necessary experience and qualifications.
