The idea is that you register with the charity, walk the route sometime between 1st May and 14th September, raise a minimum of £38, and for this you get a ‘Walk the 38’ T-shirt, a certificate to say you’ve taken part, the opportunity to tell your friends and family on FaceBook, and the satisfaction that you have helped a worth-while cause, as well as keeping yourself fit and having a great time. You can do the walk any time, on your own, in a group, in fancy dress, whichever way you like. To register, go to; registration costs £10.

The first one was run this week appropriately at Clapton garage, where route 38 is based. Drivers were happy to get involved, suggesting that they would walk in teams to see who could raise the most for Maggie’s.

Maggie’s will also be working with Arriva’s HR departments in the future, to offer help and support to employees who are living with cancer.

Arriva is also running a ‘Walk the 38’ advertising campaign in the route 38 buses, where you can find details and register.

Replica models of these two vehicles are being produced and will go on sale through the Arriva London and Heritage Fleet web sites sometime in May.

Other events are still in the planning stage, and will be posted here as they are finalised.  For more information, please watch this space.
