Third time lucky for top Arriva driver

Arriva Driver of the Year Competition 2010 winner, Osas IzekorArriva London crowned Lea Valley driver, Osas Izekor as their driver of the year at the local finals on Saturday (June 12).

Osas was just one of 65 entrants who had been battling it out since February to take the prestigious honour.

The final consisted of three disciplines, the first a driving skills test including tricky manoeuvres around traffic cones both forwards and reverse; then a service drive on the local roads surrounding the garage. This took in bus positioning road craft and stopping position at bus stops. Finally it was into the classroom for the Highway Code and vehicle safety test.

He’d already represented the company once before in the national contest, but Osas wasn’t taking any chances – he’d been studying the Highway Code and swotting up on his mechanical knowledge in preparation for the local contest.

Osas has been a driver since 1998 and this was his third attempt at the London final.

North London Drivers
1st Place; O Izekor – Lee Valley

3rd Place; T Gomm – Wood Green

The top four drivers will be representing Arriva London in this year’s National Competition at Blackpool in September:
