In his role as commercial support manager for Arriva London, Dave is usually the one organising presentations but this time found himself on the receiving end of a silver award. Supporting the Bobby Moore fund for the last four years, Dave has regularly taken part in charity events which have included abseiling from the roof of the Bobby Moore stand at West Ham's Upton Park stadium, spending the night in Wormwood Srubbs prison and running the Great North Run.

Arriva London managing director, Bob Scowen said: “We work to positively contribute to the communities that we operate in. Our awards scheme recognises the contribution that our employees make to their local community in their own time, outside of work.

“We have lots of employees that find the time and energy to support local initiatives and charities so it is great to be able to officially recognise their efforts and provide them with some practical, financial support.”

All of the good causes that the trio support benefit from the award with the Sea Cadets, Bobby Moore fund and Battersea Fields youth club each receiving a cheque for £1000, £500 and £250 respectively. The three winners are also presented with a certificate recognising their contribution and a Christmas hamper for them and their family to enjoy.

The Arriva Community Action Awards scheme aims to help recognise the valuable contribution that employees make to their local communities through voluntary work.

The Awards are open to all Arriva employees across the UK, including those who work in their spare time for a charity or non profit making organisation for the benefit of the local community. Groups of employees who have undertaken a special project to help or raise funds for the community, an organisation or charity are also invited to apply.
