Route 73 transfers from bendy buses to double deck

New double-deck buses take over Route 73New double-deck buses take over Route 73Last weekend saw the smooth transfer of Route 73 from bendy buses to double deck. Arriva London’s previous experience in making these types of conversions ensured there were no hitches.

The end of the Bendy Bus on Route 73The end of the Bendy Bus on Route 7351 double deck buses have replaced 43 bendy buses on the route which runs from Stoke Newington to Victoria, with around half of the converted service using hybrid buses, which are cleaner, quieter and lead to a substantial reduction in road pollution and carbon dioxide emissions. The passenger experience has also been improved on all the buses, by providing extra seating and improved air cooling.

Some of the Arriva driver’s required type and ticket training to deal with the change over, but as Terry Pye Arriva London’s route performance manager for the route said, “We all worked really hard to make the transition as seamless as possible for our passengers and it worked very well.”
