Arriva London supports Payroll Giving in the Lord Mayor’s Show
The Lord Mayor’s Show takes place this Saturday (8th Nov.) with a river pageant and procession through the City and is set to feature more than 7,000 people. It is the 799th such show, which introduces the new Mayor of London to the City, and this year Arriva London have entered an iconic open top Routemaster in the parade to celebrate the day, and their support for charities through the Payroll Giving scheme.
Throughout this year, staff of Arriva London have been encouraged to join the Payroll Giving scheme, which allows individuals to choose their favourite charities and give to them directly through their salary. Arriva London fully supports its 5,500 employees in giving in this way. Not only do they run the scheme for the staff, but each quarter the company donates four prizes of £250 to individual employee’s charities.
The entry in the Lord Mayor’s Show is RMC 1464, the only open top Routemaster in Arriva London’s Heritage Fleet. The bus displays adverts which show some of the Arriva London employees who are currently giving to charity through the Payroll Giving scheme. Their specific charities range from Cancer Research, Diabetes UK and Mental Health through to animal charities and Save the Children. Each of the individuals has volunteered to be part of the campaign and many are in the parade.
A 1:76 scale commemorative model bus of the open topper as it appears in the show has been commissioned, and is on sale from the Arriva shop.
