Two Guinness World Record holders in Arriva London engineering
Well, they did it! On Tuesday morning on Horse Guards Parade, Brogan O’Brien and Carole Wilde, engineers from Arriva London, were part of the National Women in Engineering Day celebrations setting a Guinness World Record.
Eight hundred and sixty-four people jumped in the air and made a “high five” to achieve the record, which previously stood at three hundred. One hundred and fifty five organisations sent people along to the event, which was designed to highlight the enormous contribution women make to engineering and technology in the UK. All the participants received the following letter.
“Dear Guinness World Record Holders,
A huge thank you for attending and supporting the photocall and world record attempt yesterday morning at Horse Guards Parade which was part of our National Women in Engineering Day celebrations.
We absolutely smashed the previous record of 300 set by L’Orèal with over 864 people turning out, from over 155 organisations. Social media channels have been going crazy and we would love to see more of your photos so please do continue to tweet using the hashtag #NWEDHigh5.
A film will now be produced of the event and will profile a number of women from across the engineering and technology worlds which will be pushed out to the industry for general use and to inform engagement with schools”.
If you would like a career with Arriva London, then why not join us and the Guinness World record holders and apply for a position here.

Arriva London features buses from two different eras in the 2016 Lord Mayor’s Show to support Payroll Giving
Despite the pouring rain, the 2016 Lord Mayor’s Show was just as amazing and exciting as all of the others that Arriva London has been involved with over the years.
As part of our continuous improvement programme, investment has been made in our engineering facilities right across our seventeen garages.
It’s at this time of the year that The London Restaurant Festival celebrates the culinary delights of the city, with all manner of special events showcasing the great eateries across the capital.
The new buses were initially delivered from Wrightbus in Northern Ireland to Arriva’s North London Edmonton garage, where they were checked and prepared for going into service.
We will have a much larger presence in the parade this year, with the introduction of our Platinum Payroll Giving bus HV64 to accompany RMC 1464.
