All aboard the Arriva London bus to celebrate World Book Day
Local Haringey pre-school pupils were again treated to a very special way to celebrate World Book Day last Thursday (3rd March) with a shiny, red Arriva London Bus.
Veena Sharma, Assistant Head for Parental Involvement at Rowland Hill Nursery and Children’s Care Centre, is always looking for ways to get the pupils engaged in World Book Day, so called again on Arriva London to see if they could help as they had previously in 2013.
Pupils, parents and teachers from the Rowland Centre took turns to board the Arriva London bus in White Hart Lane, where customer services officer Sharon Barry lead the children in singing “The wheels on the bus”, and with bus driver colleagues Helen and Sharon, read excerpts from ‘The Naughty Bus’ story book.
Veena said: “I just want to say a big thank you again for the wonderful input from Arriva London with our World Book Day celebrations. The children and staff really enjoyed your contributions. The children were so excited and had so much fun singing the wheels on the bus.”
The staff also had a great time, with one teacher commenting: “The Arriva London staff were wonderful with the children, making them feel so welcome.”

“It was great fun and a real gift to be able to get involved in such an event. To see the children’s’ faces light up and listen so intently to the stories, it’s a great way to introduce them to books and the fun of reading”.
