Arriva Driver has her head shaved for Cancer Fund raising

Having a full head of hair is a natural gift but the recent head shaving of Deena Gajjar, an Arriva London bus driver from Arriva’s Croydon garage, to raise money for Cancer Research UK is a very generous one.

Deena has always been a giver to charity and a habitual fund raiser with all sorts of projects, including a climb of Mount Kilimanjaro, but this one is literally the most hair raising one she has ever undertaken.

Supported by a whole host of colleagues in the Croydon garage entrance hall, Deena took the ultimate plunge and had her favourite hairdresser remove all of her shiny locks until she was completely bald.

Deena’s fund raising target was £1,000 but to date she has collected over £3,000 from colleagues, family and friends, including a generous donation from Arriva.

Deena said:-

“I have wanted to do this for sometime now but needed to pluck up the courage to do it. I also wanted to understand what it feels like to lose your hair and I’m really glad now that I’ve done it, with a big thank you to all of those who have given me such great support”

Gary Smith the operating manger at Croydon said:-

“Arriva has a policy of supporting charity in all sorts of ways, as can be seen through Payroll Giving. We also encourage individuals to achieve their specific charitable wishes and are very proud of Deena and all that she has done.”
