Arriva Engineers excel at 2015 IRTE Skills Challenge
Pioneered by the IRTE (Institute of Road Transport Engineers), the IRTE Skills Challenge champions and rewards the vital work and skills of bus engineers across the UK.
This year’s competition, held over 5 days from 1st to 5th June 2015 at the S&B Automotive Academy in Bristol saw bus and coach operators from all over the UK put forward teams to compete in a series of engineering challenges covering three disciplines of mechanical, electrical and bodywork to see who has the best technicians in the industry.
Arriva UK Bus, who competed on 2nd June, was strongly represented by engineers from Arriva London, Christos Efstathiou (Clapton garage) along with apprentices Tom King (Norwood), George Perry (Barking) and Adam Vale (Tottenham).
The competition was fiercely contested with the results only revealed at the presentation ceremony, held Thursday 16 July at the National Motor Cycle museum in Birmingham. Norwood’s Tom King was amongst the Arriva successes, not only was he the winner of the Top Scoring Electrical Apprentice award, but he was also teamed up with Arriva Midlands colleague Pamela Chapman to win the Electrical & Mechanical Award. Well done to them both!
