Arriva London begins new route W4 contract with 14 new Enviro 200 single-deck buses
Last summer, we were delighted to be awarded the contract from TfL to operate route W4 running from Oakthorpe Park Estate to Tottenham Ferry Lane estate, operating from Wood Green garage.
One of our brand values is 'Great Customer Experience'. When we began operating the route, we introduced 14 brand new Enviro 200 single-decker buses. The route requires 35 drivers to cover the timetable; for this, we recruited a number of new drivers and welcomed 18 drivers who elected to come across from the previous operator.
One of these is Lee, who had previously worked for Arriva, fourteen years ago. He explained about the route and how he feels about returning to Arriva London:
"Route W4 is predominantly 'Hail & Ride': I would say at least fifty percent is that element. It's fairly tight in places with a lot of resident parking either side, but it’s a good route to drive.
My career started at Arriva in 1996, and in 2002 I left to get a job with my local authority. I came back into the industry four years ago, driving the W4 for the previous operator, and now I’ve come back to Arriva and it feels just like an old pair of shoes. It’s nice to come back home. Everyone’s got a smile on their face, people are very friendly. It’s a great company to work for."

Local Haringey pre-school pupils were again treated to a very special way to celebrate World Book Day last Thursday (3rd March) with a shiny, red Arriva London Bus.
There can’t be a better way of learning about how buses work, than getting on one and asking the drivers. This is precisely what happened this week, when Arriva London were invited to take one of their red single deck buses to Newbury Park Primary School in Ilford.
As part of our ongoing drive to improve customer experience, we continually look for ways of enhancing the training we provide for our drivers.
Every year, Arriva London’s staff show their massive generosity through their continued charitable giving. The company runs a Payroll Giving scheme, which encourages staff to easily give to any charity they choose through their payroll, for as little as one pound a week; this is also tax efficient for both the employee and the charities.
