Treat yourselves this summer with an historic Arriva London Heritage Fleet Routemaster bus
If you’re planning a wedding, a special birthday celebration or a fantastic day out with a group of friends, why not treat yourselves this summer and let us help you with your transport and celebrations solutions, using our Heritage Fleet Routemaster buses available for private hire.
Our Heritage Fleet includes seven iconic London Routemasters, including the first production model introduced in 1959, now restored to near original condition, RM5. Our gold RM6 used to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations in 2002. The last Routemaster in commercial service on route 159 in 2007, RM 2217, and the first ever ‘Coach ‘version in the form of our beautiful ‘Greenline’ RMC 1454.
RMC 1453 started work at Hertford garage in August 1962 when the Routemaster ‘coaches’ replaced single deck RFs on route 715 between Hertford and Guildford.
Just over four years ago, in an arrangement with the National Trust, she was restored back to her original mint condition and Lincoln Greenline livery. The cost of restoring her was shared with them.
The National Trust regularly uses her to take its members on tours of London to see buildings of historical and architectural interest, as well as many tucked away hidden treasures.
As well as providing the bus for the National Trust tours, one of our part-time Tottenham bus drivers Joe Kerr, who is also a renowned architectural lecturer, regularly acts as either a driver or a guide on the tours.
Our commercial support manager, Phil Clark, who is responsible for the fleet, explains:
"Our arrangement with the National Trust has been very successful, and the tours are very popular, such that it has been suggested they may wish to continue the tours well into the future. It’s a great relationship for Arriva London to have, and with Joe as a tour guide, the tours are just great."
The very special partnership with the National Trust takes up much of her time, but when she is not on tour, RMC 1454 is also available for private hire to everyone.
So, if you would like go on a National Trust tour, please click here, or if you would like to hire our Greenline ‘special’ or any of our other historic Heritage Fleet Routemasters, then please contact our Commercial department on 020 8271 3411 or click here to send us a request; we look forward to seeing you.
