BBC Bang Goes The Theory - Dr Yan's Bus JumpBBC Bang Goes The Theory - Dr Yan's Bus JumpWhen BBC TV series ‘Bang Goes the Theory’ were posed with a tricky scientific question they called on Arriva London to help explain it.

The show was asked by a viewer, “If I stood on a bus and jumped, would I move backwards?”

As it’s not quite as simple as you would imagine they decided to film one of the shows presenters, Dr Yan Wong explaining the laws of inertia on a moving bus.

Arriva London driving instructor Carlos Samuel was called on to drive the bus for the days filming. “It was very interesting and quite easy really, I just had to speed up and slow down at the right times” said Carlos.

“I must have driven up and down the same piece of road about ten times, as they filmed the different sequences but when you see the finished clip it looks so simple.”

The bus used was an Enviro 200 single decker from Arriva’s Lea Valley garage.
