Arriva London celebrates a double win at the UK Bus Awards

Staff in Wood Green garage have plenty to celebrate today after hearing of their success in the TfL London Bus Garage of the Year category of the prestigious 2010 UK Bus Awards.

As well as a trophy and certificate, the winning team receives a cash prize which goes towards boosting staff facilities at their garage.

Wood Green garage has taken the winners spot in recognition of its overall high standards of operational performance, workplace excellence and environmental criteria. Operating manager, Mark Halligan said: "We are all thrilled and delighted to get this award, everyone involved in the garage has played a part in this victory and they are all a credit to the bus industry."

This flagship garage operates ten routes that cover an area from London Bridge and Trafalgar Square to Barnet and Potters Bar and employs over five hundred staff from all backgrounds. The judges felt that Wood Green had performed exceptionally well on all fronts.

Between them Mick and Alan have over 50 years experience in the bus industry and as well as managing the route controllers, are responsible for the day to day service delivery as well as controller training and development and effective staff utilisation.

The judges particularly praised their across-the-board drive, and their commitment to sharing best practice and improving communications between drivers and controllers.

The Wood Green control team were highly commended in the service delivery category and the Gary Morgan, Tony Lambrou, Lois Dollin, Craig PeaseGary Morgan, Tony Lambrou, Lois Dollin, Craig Peasetwo Arriva London drivers, Eusebio Duarte and Mohammed Sadeq Mulla were highly commended in the Top London Driver category.
