Latest tender news is a boost for Arriva
In the latest round of tendering results from Transport for London, Arriva have retained route 2 (Norwood - Marylebone) route 432 (Anerley – Brixton) route 59 (Streatham Hill – Kings Cross) route 109 (Croydon - Brixton) and route 444 (Chingford – Turnpike Lane).
In addition Arriva have been awarded route 133 (Streatham – Liverpool Street) and 325 (East Beckton – Prince Regent Station).
Commercial Director, Peter Batty said: “Whilst this is excellent news it must be understood that these re-awards would not have happened if we did not look closely at all areas of cost and work together to accept changes that give the business the best chance to retain jobs within Arriva London in what has become an extremely competitive market.
“The re-award of these contracts also recognises the high standard of service quality we have provided, consistently exceeding TfL’s minimum performance standards.”
The new contracts for the 59, 109 and 133 start in January next year, the 325 and 444 in March and the 2 and 432 in April.
Routes 2, 109, 432 and 444 will continue to be operated with existing vehicles refurbished to the latest TfL specification. Route 59 will be a mix of existing and new.
It is intended that route 133 will operate from Brixton garage and route 325 from Barking, both will be operated with new vehicles.
