PCSO Steve was on hand to entertain visitors and was supported by a DJ playing music and officers from Haringey's Safer Transport team who were on hand to provide crime prevention and personal safety advice,. Officers also registered people's mobile phones on the immobilise.com property register to increase their chance of having property returned to them in the event of loss or theft.

Arriva provided a double decker bus from their Heritage fleet and staff at the army recruitment bus had a table football set up which helped officers to engage with the community on another level.

As well as continuing their core business of patrolling around the borough's transport hubs, Safer Transport officers will be carrying out high visibility patrols around bus stops near schools up until the end of school term, Revenue operations with Transport for London (TfL) and weapon sweeps, in order to locate and remove any weapons that may have been cached for future collection, to ensure that people stay safe over the festive season.

"Safer Travel at Night" (a partnership between Transport for London (TfL), the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) and the City of London Police) means that people will see Safer Transport officers carrying out late night high visibility patrols around the borough’s transport hubs and around licensed premises in Wood Green, Tottenham and Muswell Hill, aiming to prevent Taxi Touts, ensure revellers get home safely and prevent drink related antisocial behaviour.

Haringey’s Safer Transport team will be holding a crime prevention and safe travel stall in The Mall in Wood Green, with Noel Park Safer Neighbourhoods team and Safer Town Centre officers, on the afternoon of 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th and 23rd of December.

Chief Inspector Jon Williams, who is in charge of Haringey's Safer Transport Team said: "The work of the Safer Transport Team within Haringey has significantly contributed to making travel within and through the Borough safer for all. The opportunity to meet the officers and discuss what they have done and any concerns you have about travel within Haringey is one I would urge people to seize."
