Drivers get busy to help local pre-school
Staff at Edmonton garage have raised £150 with a collection and raffle to raise funds to help out local pre-school, Busy Bees.
It’s the second time that the team at Edmonton have supported the Busy Bees and this time the top raffle prizes were a microwave and a digital camera.
Driver, Frank Laine, who organised the fund raising said: “We wanted to help an organisation that was local to the routes that we drive, some of our staff have had children that have attended the pre-school at one time or another.
“There is also a personal connection as both my wife and our storeman Les’ wife work there, we hope to make it a regular occurrence.”
The Chingford based pre-school has been providing much needed child care at the Normanshire Drive site since 1968 and cares for an average of 30 children aged between two and four and a half, with seven dedicated staff.
School co-ordinator Margaret Oley said: “We are all really grateful to Arriva, we get funding from Waltham Forest Council for the essentials but we rely heavily on donations to provide and update the equipment.”
Busy Bees is open from 08:45 to15:00 and anyone interested in their services should call on 020 8559 4473.
